EXCELLENT INTRODUCTION

I am surprised that i am the first person to reveiw this book given the number of engineering technicians and technologists that are working in the field. This is an excellent introduction to the field of engineering technology.

The book takes two full chapters to clarify and describe the difference between the disciplines of engineering and engineering technology (a desperately needed clarification as many engineers and engineering technicians are apparently confused about the distinction). The book does a good history review of engineering technology and reveals that the engineering currculum of the 1950's was similar in depth and content as that of the engineering technology curriculum of today. Engineering technology did not exist then and had to be created as engineers began to apply themselves to a more theoretical course of study and leave applied science to another group who came to be called engineering technicians.

The various disciplines of engineering technolology are discussed, the need to enroll in an accredited program, and how to prepare for a career in engineering technology.

Excellent discussion of the need for an engineering technicians to be communicators, implementors and testers or troubleshooters.

Also, answers are given to odd numbered exercises. This is especially important to anyone using the book for self-study (as i did).

If you're thinking about entering the field of engineering technology you must read this book. Believe me, there is no other book on the market like it!

This book is more of an overview than a step-by-step instruction book, but it still contains a great deal of highly practical information. If you are thinking of using composites in a car, homebuilt plane, or boat, this book is a good first step. It is one of the few that is up-to-date enough to treat the new epoxy systems and fibers like Kevlar and carbon as practical options.

For the price, this is a great book - but I really wanted more photographs showing styles and finishes. I bought this book and his other on Countertops - good basic books that will get you started.

For a practical book it certainly lacks images

I was expecting diagrams, photos or at least some drawings, but no, only text. That is a shame. Every single woodworking book I have ever own had visual cues that could help me understand the concepts being discussed. English is not my maternal language and sometimes is difficult to understand the use of certain words. A few images here and there would have been very helpful. Other than that it covers several subjects and will be somewhat helpful if you have experience in the area, if you are a novice find another book.

Kay Taylor Parker was a legend in the adult films industry - a classier, more attractive woman has never been found. Now she turns her talents to writing her autobiography. This is a compelling read about a remarkable life's journey. Kay approaches it as she seems to have approached everything else in her life - with honor, style, and passion. This is well worth a read.
