Interesting Read!

Understanding the steps it takes to learn leadership skills is a vital part of anyone’s success in life in general, but especially in becoming the leader of a company or group. This book is interesting and gives many words of advice on reaching one’s full potential. Believing in oneself as well as in his or her followers is highly important in leadership, and that is expressed repeatedly in this book about becoming a successful leader.

Excellent book!

This ‘Leadership’ book gave me some excellent insight into what I can do to become a leader from now, going forward. Steve Williams does a great job of explaining how day to day behavior can affect your entire reputation, and how having a positive outlook can bring your business and personal life to a whole new standard of success. He stresses the importance of happiness, maturity and treating followers (or employees) well, as these are all factors that lead to hard-working followers and an overall successful project. I also love that Williams stresses that not everyone is born a leader, but that anyone can become a leader by using the best practices in leadership, and understanding the skills it takes to become a successful leader. This is something that is often not discussed, and people often overlook that leadership is a learned skill. Williams does a great job of explaining this process, and telling readers why they should take their time while learning how to be a strong, successful and well respected leader.

Wow, what a read! Steve Williams is a motivational speaker who has also written many inspirational, motivational, and exciting books for people who are looking for a little extra help in their personal and professional lives. In his leadership book, he gives key tips on how to grow as a leader in today’s world, including how to stay organized through the process of leadership building. He also talks about other important qualities, like commitment to your own leadership journey, as well as your employees and anyone else who may be considered one of your followers. The author shows how readers can strengthen their leadership skills without becoming overbearing in the process. I enjoyed reading the book, and I feel that others who are looking to become better leaders and improve their lives in general should take some time out to read it. Cappadocia, a province in central Turkey, offers the traveler a startling rockscape whose cones, pleats, and folds conceal hundreds of monasteries and churches carved from the soft, porous "tuff" and used by Christian communities over nearly two millennia for shelter, burial, and sanctuary. This region in the Turkish hinterland is recognized as one of the centers of Byzantine mural painting. However, numerous hermitages, monasteries, and independent chapels dating from the seventh century onward reveal it also as one of the most concentrated areas of Eastern monasticism.

This book serves a double purpose: it provides a thorough and lucid introduction to the rockcut churches and monasteries and their painted decorations, while it critically examines current scholarship on the monastic environment of Byzantine Cappadocia -- particularly in regard to the architecture, which has been generally neglected by art historians.

Scooped out rather than constructed, this anonymous architecture has its own unique appeal. Kostof writes: "The Cappadocian carver-architect was not inhibited... by statics or the nature of materials. His structure stood, a monolith, before he started to work on it. And he could cut into this monolith quickly, effortlessly. It might take a single man about a month to carve out a large room of two to three thousand cubic feet. Loads and thrusts were negligible. One was free to try any structural symbol with little concern for structural safety. Cupolas could bubble from flat ceilings, or be placed over square bays by means of the most cavalier transition elemenis. No shape need be perfect: extemporaneous geometry is everywhere the rule. Wall lines sag, one half of an arch doesn't quite match the other, carefree deviations, here and there, mark the general outline of the building.

Following an account of the region, its environmental, political, and religious history, the author discusses in detail the building types and painting programs in the context of their creation--answering such questions as what was the nature of monasticism in Cappadocia, and who were the builders, the artists, their patrons? The author was born and educated in Turkey, and his personal knowledge of the monuments is a convincing factor in his handling of chronological and stylistic uncertainties. Throughout, Kostof's mind's eye never leaves the total environment, observing the inseparability of landscape, buildings, paintings, and the ritual that informs them.

In Cappadocia, a bleak and relatively barren section of south central Turkey, nature has provided a moonscape environment replenished with a wild and at times bizarre array of rock formation. It was in this remote, forbidding area that Byzantine monks from approximately 500 through 1200 A.D. created a strange, unreal world of rock-cut hermitages, monasteries, and churches. Kostof's study is comprehensive. It presents a catalog of the major rock-cut buildings and then painstakingly examines their architectural styles and the numerous styles of mural paintings that cover many of their walls and ceilings... the book beautifully conjures up a sense and a feel for the place, its man-made artifacts, and the beliefs of the men who lived there. The excellent, very enjoyable text is supplemented by many... black-and-white plates, and revealing line drawings of plans, elevations, and cross sections.

In a lunar, rocky region of central Turkey, visited by Saint Paul and converted early to Christianity, churches and monasteries were carved directly into the soft cliffs. The rockscape itself is eerie: there are photographs of strangely folded white hills and free-standing cone like formations eaten away by wind, with residues of harder rock perched on their summits like hats. The anonymous architecture hollowed out inside the slopes dates from the seventh century; itis fantastically resourceful in its response to a peculiar environment. Have read better

I am buying all the Disney Read-Aloud Story books for my sons. I have not been disappointed in any except this one. There is not enough story in the writing. Many details from the movie are left out. I think this might be due to the fact that they used a very large and bold typeface. Or is this a "who-came-first-the-chicken-or-the-egg" question.

I gave it 3 stars because the visuals are nice. I think they are taken directly from the film.

Great movie, wonderful book!

My one year old son loves Toy Story, especially Woody. His face lights up at the sight of him and this book has wonderful color pictures that keeps him interested when I read it to him. It follows the movie very well and is his favorite night-time read. It is also broken down into chapters so you don't have to read it all in one sitting. Thank goodness for this book and I can only wait for the movie!

My 3 1/2 year old son enjoys this book, and I'll admit that the illustrations are great, but I find the text of this book lacking. For example on page 40, the text reads: "I'm supposed to be played with," he decided"--is this even correct grammar? The choppiness of the text, lack of flow, and overuse of exclamation points makes the story a disappointment to read.

Fahimi's book can be considered a specialisation of the recent Springer Springer Handbook of Robotics. The current book explains the control systems theory behind having a robot operate independently. The kinematics can be quite involved, and you should already have a good background in matrix algebra.

Important special cases treated include have multiple mobile robots and planning their interdependent paths. These are in the presence of various potential energy functions. In some scenarios the paths are on a two dimensional surface, like land or at sea level. While in others, the paths are fully three dimensional, as for flying robots or those under the sea.

The concept of an autopilot for maintaining constant velocity on a surface is seen as an important but fundamentally simple situation.

Each chapter ends with a short set of problems; making the text suitable for a university course.

Awesome! I like!

Of the 3 books in the series so far, this would be my favorite. I'd rate the first 2 as 4 stars. This one had enough fight scenes, intrigue, mystery, smart dialogue, snark, and romance, and the story flowed smoothly. Funny thing though is that near the end, there's almost a feeling that the author is tired and just wanted to wrap things up. But it's still presented well, don't get me wrong. There were also a lot of typo errors which can give you pause but not enough to detract from the book.

I don't know what the author's plan is for the heroine's romantic life. She is already in a relationship with Tiernan. But the author introduced a potential romance with a dragon. I'm really not looking for another Godhunter series version where the heroine tends to get attacked or kidnapped in every other book, villain falls for her, she falls for the kidnapper, then marries or consorts with them. I guess we will have to wait and see if Seren remains true to her claim of being a "one-man kinda girl" and stay in a monogamous relationship or if she ends up like Vervain; Seren's romantic evolution will be rationalized as just her being the typical oversexed fey. Well, we'll see how that goes...

The introduction of witches as the mutation of fey and human was interesting. It was a nice turn of events and a creative development of a new set of characters. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if a new series is introduced with Sarah as the lead. Or maybe in a short story...

Anyway, this series kind of started a little familiar to me (probably because I had just finished her Godhunter series and I keep thinking I'm in the same world) but sticking with it has borne fruit. I highly recommend this series --- almost similar to the Godhunter but has its own unique feel to it. I'm looking forward to the next book. I hope we hear more from the other Star's Guards besides Conri and Torquil and Gradh (where does the author get these names? :). And also other things that happen in Twilight Court.

One of my measuring sticks for a good book is if I'm willing to re-read it. So far, I've read this novel twice. This is good and entertaining reading and totally worth your time. I don't think you will regret it. I just wish the author could write faster...

In this latest book, Amy takes us on another Fairy-tastic journey! While investigating a series of attacks both as Fairy Princess and Ambassador, we are taken on an unexpected journey with Seren! I'm amazed at how Amy keeps coming up with such flawlessly executed stories. Amy's writing is fantastic and as the plot begins to unfold throughout this novel you'll be wooed by unforeseen outcomes. Every book I've read by Amy is incredibly hard to put down and I'm constantly sucked into the amazing worlds she creates. This story is no exception to her talent! Ms. Amy Sumida deserves the highest of accolades for another job well done!

Love it!!

This was such a fun and entertaining read with many twists!!

A lot of new characters were introduced in this book. And when I say a lot, I mean an entire coven of witches. Like, wow!

Not only that, it takes place in Tulsa of Oklahoma. Yay! I live in Muskogee, OK and it's about 50 minutes south of Tulsa. ❤️

And oh, let's not forget Lord Raza? Remember Seren's short encounter with him in the unseelie court from book 2?

Well, let's just say he is hunkalicious and if Seren don't want him, I will take him as a second husband. Okay, just kidding, he can be my secret lover.

It's just sad to see that Seren is settling for Teirnan when she has soooo many potential suitors lined up.

But overall, love this series!! I can't wait to read the next book which is already out!!!!

I would highly recommend this book for readers who loves Faeries.

Do Cross this Fire!

This is the first time reading Sylvia Day and I must say it will not be my last.
This is not a (50 Shades of Grey) but much, much more! You must read all 5 books.
I found myself crying, laughing, sad, mad, and even I grabbed my own wrist from time to time. I fell into this story. I lived these characters from the start. Gideon is an Alfa-male that every man wants to be and Eva is the woman I wish I could be. How we live our lives from day to day in this society is taxing to say the least. To grab a book and sink into it (hard) is a release. I had mixed emotions at first but as I read each book it made me want more. Is that not what you want an author to do? Well she fulfilled that in this series. I never wanted it to end and when it did I felt drained. Drained to the core. She stripped away my day to day stress and replaced it with love, lust, honor and most of all courage. I felt alive again. I felt MY soul restored. I never write reviews but I do read them before I buy a book. So if you read mine remember one word and one word only CROSSFIRE! Read all the books to understand!

Eva Tramell is starting a new life and a new job in the Big Apple. Fighting some demons from her past, she’s not looking for love but boy does she find lust in the form of Gideon Cross. Gorgeous, sexy and obscenely wealthy, Gideon is all kinds of trouble. When the two find they are both messed up from horrors in their past, they struggle with being right for one another when so many things seem to go wrong.

My one issue with romance reads is insta-love. Well, at least when the male lead is an affirmed “no relationships” person. Bared to You was no different in this respect. Eva and Gideon meet and he wants her for sex and that’s it. But, who knew? Within a matter of hours he’s changing his ways. No. Nooooooo! I’m sorry but I cannot wrap my head around this. It’s a huge flaw but it’s one I’m used to and I didn’t let it deter me from enjoying the novel.

Yes, this novel is full of the traditional romance novel eye roll inducing cliches. You’ve got the commitment phobic rich bachelor with skeletons in his closet, the line of exes still in love with said bachelor, jealous family members, a gay best friend and plenty of hijinks and misunderstandings that lead to fights then tons of make-up sex. And you know what? Bared to You was still entertaining.

Despite all my issues, I was totally invested in Gideon and Eva and eager to learn all about their traumatic pasts. We learn Eva’s in book one, but are still in the dark on Gideon’s despite his issues causing major drama in this installment. Also, I love the jealous other woman angle. Nothing makes me happier than to see the conniving mean girl get her just desserts. However, there may not be just one in this book. Slight plot twist there!

My grade: B

Par for the course, but still interesting and enticing. At times, the sex overpowers the plot but it is sinful and sultry goodness that you won’t want to miss. Nothing outrageous or original, but a very well done story nonetheless.

I love this series this was my first time reading this book , but I have listened to it on audio. I love Gideon Cross. Eva Tramell is starting a new life with her best friend and roommate Cary Taylor she has a new job as an assistant at a PR firm. While doing a test walk to she runs into a tall dark and handsome guy and she is wowed by known other that Gideon Cross he owns the building Crossfire. Gideon can't stop thinking about her so he makes her an offer that she refuses. Eva is dealing with her attraction to Gideon and with her mother Monica who is over protective she tracks her by using her cell phone. Eva is very high maintenance and both Gideon and Eva have a lot of baggage in their past. They have their first sexual hook up in the back of a limo and it was hot all of the sex scenes with these two are smoking hot did I say that "I love Gideon". Gideon's brother Christopher is a real jerk I don't like him at Madalena she wants Gideon and than their is ex Corinne who left her husband thinking that she can get Gideon back. Cary who is bi is also going through drama his boyfriend Trey catches him with a girl. While at a party at Gideon's parents house Cary films Madalena and Christopher having sex after she watched Gideon and Eva or rather what he was doing to her. Both of these character's also deals with jealousy and Eva tends to run away from things. This is one of my favorite series
